One-day training events with Steve Chinn

  • An overview of the interacting factors which contribute to learning difficulties in Maths for Dyslexics, Dyscalculics and other learners
  • A developmental structure for teaching mathematics
  • An understanding of the impact of anxiety, self-esteem and attributional style on classroom attitudes
  • Practical ideas for making a positive difference

Steve's previous tour dates to Scotland (October 2009) and Ireland (February 2010) were a great success. Steve's last leg of the tour takes place in England and Wales.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be made in writing no later than three weeks before the event otherwise a 50% charge will be incurred. Bookings cancelled less than seven days prior to the event are due in full and no refunds will be made.

About Steve Chinn
Steve taught for 40 years, in mainstream schools, in Further Education and in Special Education. He was head of three special schools for dyslexic students. Steve founded and for nineteen years ran Mark College, a school for Dyslexic boys, which received several awards including the Department of Education's "Highly Effective School" certificate and Beacon School status, the ISA's "Award for Excellence" and a National Training Award.

Steve has written several books based on his classroom research, including "The Trouble with Maths" which won the NASEN/TES "Book for Learning and Teaching" award in 2004. The second edition of "Sum Hope" now titled "Dealing with Dyscalculia: Sum Hope2" will be published in September 2007.

Steve runs training courses for teachers across the UK and has lectured on learning difficulties in maths in over 20 countries worldwide. Steve was Chair of the 3rd International Conference of the British Dyslexia Association and was co-founder and then Chair of the Council for the Registration of Schools Teaching Dyslexics (CReSTeD).
